The Eco Fashion Weekend is, in essence, a direct response to the significant environmental challenges facing the fashion sector. The industry’s substantial carbon emissions from manufacturing processes, alongside its sizeable contribution to water pollution through dyeing and textile operations, underline the urgency of addressing these issues. Singapore, in alignment with its commitment to sustainability, has implemented the Green Plan policy since 1992, encompassing a range of initiatives aimed at lowering its carbon footprint, mitigating climate change and fostering environmental conservation.

The event, dubbed ‘Fashion: Make it Eco’, serves as a catalyst for sustainable change, aiming to spark meaningful dialogue and inspire concrete action within the fashion industry and beyond. By shedding light on pressing issues such as climate change and environmental degradation, the event seeks to empower individuals and organisations to embrace sustainability as a guiding principle. Through an exploration of innovative solutions, emerging trends, and best practices, ‘Fashion: Make it Eco’ aims to propel the sustainable fashion movement forward, driving towards a future that prioritises eco-conscious practices and social responsibility.
