A NOTE ON SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability is my biggest focus when it comes to Reoutfitting you and your wardrobe.
I love clothes passionately.
And it’s because of this passion, that I feel a strong responsibility to educate my clients not only about how clothes can transform your image, but what clothes have done to our planet. This means being aware of the complexities of the fashion supply chain from manufacturing to end-of-life. It is an extremely complex topic that requires layers of nuance and open-mindness.
Clothes don’t just appear or disappear. Clothes are not disposable.
And we as consumers, are the ones who buy them.
We have so much power in that.
In this day and age, it seems impossible not to buy into a fast-fashion trap. So my goal isn’t to eliminate shopping, but instead to find the right items for you, or help you invest into styles that will be sustainable for your individual journey. We often buy into trends that don’t work for us or our lifestyle, or we start buying the wrong items, thinking a little bit here and there won’t hurt.
Until it does.
It can be daunting to think about decluttering your closet and the amount of waste you could produce, but rest assured, I will work with you to make sure we are not creating any additional waste to your life. I’ll make sure you have the knowledge you need to create shopping habits that ensure a longer life to your treasured items.
When it comes to “sustainable fashion,” I believe that every small step counts, and if that means wearing an item just once more than you normally would, or passing on a shirt to a friend: you’ve done your part.
Where I can, I’ll give advice on how, what and where to sell your things, how best to manage waste that cannot be reused, and on how we can rewear or re-fashion your items into something you can love again.
We’ll work through it together.
Did you know?
8-10%
of global greenhouse gas emissions come from the fashion industry.
80-150 Billion
garments are produced and sold annually.
3/5
of all clothing produced ends up in incinerators or landfills within years of being made.
6 Generations
There’s enough clothes on the planet to clothe the next 6 generations.
I believe that sustainability starts at the beginning:
We’ll determine your curated style & true needs based on your personality and lifestyle.
I believe in buying better:
We will only buy pieces that we work with what you own & are easy to wear.
I believe less is more:
Where possible, I will help you choose better styles to invest in that will last for years.
I believe:
By discovering your taste, boundaries, and style is essential to dressing more sustainably.
I’m here to help.
Together, let’s Reoutfit and change the way we view styling.
Every month we send a portion of our service fees to support The OR Foundation, a nonprofit focusing on environmental justice, education, and circular fashion.
I’m passionate about their multimedia project Dead White Man’s Clothes, which highlights the global fashion waste that ends up in Accra, Ghana. As a personal stylist, it is my aim to help educate my clients on how we can extend the life of our clothes and reduce the post-consumer clothing waste problem.
